Where does the leather of Santoni belts come from?
Santoni works with the best quality leather for all its products. Learn from Pink Calves that roam freely in the Alps. Because these calves graze freely, they receive food that is offered by nature on the Alpine pasture. So they are not fed, which ensures that they do not receive extra hormones. This is essential for the quality of their skin. When calves are fed, they often end up in a growth spurt, as a result of which the veins of the skin of a calf become more open. In addition, the pores in the skin become larger. These aspects all contribute to a lower quality of the skin. The calves Santoni chooses are therefore not fed. As a result, their skin remains nice and tight, virtually no open veins and the pores remain miniscule.
Temperature differences contribute to the quality of leather
In addition to maintaining the quality of the calves' skin through high-quality natural nutrition, the environment where the calves are located also ensures strong skin. Temperatures can vary enormously on the Alpine meadow, often above an altitude of 1600 meters. During the day, in the sun, the temperature can reach as much as 30 days, while at night the mercury can drop below freezing. Due to these temperature differences, the Pink calves develop a very strong and tight skin.
Where are Santoni belts made?
Santoni belts have been made in Corridonia from the beginning in 1975. Where it started making shoes and accessories in its own studio in 1975, nowadays all Santoni shoes and accessories are made by hand in a new factory. Founder Andrea Santoni has now passed the baton to his son Giuseppe.
